Me neither, until recently. But it does: the International Mother’s Day Shrine in Grafton, West Virginia. I’m thinking of a pilgrimage.
Grafton resident Anna Jarvis invented Mother’s Day. The first official celebration was in 1908 in Andrews Methodist Church now the shrine, where her mother taught Sunday School. White carnations and everything!
I’m going to the ACES conference in Pittsburgh March 26-28, with stops in West Virginia and Ohio the following week. Contact me if you’d like to set up an event.
